RagingWire Offers Data Center Clients Green Power

SACRAMENTO, California (July 15, 2008)

RagingWire is committed to environmental responsibility and the use of renewable resources. As such, RagingWire is proud to announce a new program designed to allow its clients to use 100% green power. Under the program, RagingWire Enterprise Solutions, Inc. (RES) clients can choose green energy from renewable sources to power their high density equipment.

“This is an important initiative for RagingWire,” said George Macricostas, CEO and Vice Chairman of RagingWire. “We have always engineered and built our practices and facilities for resource conservation, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability. This program invites our clients to join us in these efforts.”

RagingWire is a Sacramento-based premier data center providing colocation and managed server hosting solutions. A core service provided by RES at its Enterprise Data Center is delivering high power densities to meet clients’ power-intensive computing requirements.

Working with electric utility provider Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), RagingWire makes clean power from renewable energy sources available to its clients. These green sources of energy include wind, solar, landfill gas, and small hydroelectric. For only an additional one cent per kilowatt-hour (kWh), RES clients can choose 100% green power.

“We constantly seek power and resource efficiencies, to reduce and recycle wastes, and to operate more productively,” said Yatish Mishra, President and CTO of RagingWire. “Our commitment to environmental responsibility and our relationship with SMUD enable us to put green energy at the core of our next generation data center facilities.”

To power its corporate operations, RagingWire uses only renewable energy through SMUD’s Commercial Greenergy® program. Further, RES is aggressively pursuing energy saving strategies. Conservation efforts to date have saved more than 4,000,000 kWh of electricity – enough to power about 580 households for a year.

RagingWire and SMUD are also working on a joint project to implement further energy efficiency measures, with a goal of decreasing cooling requirements to the RES data center by 20+%. This is an element of RagingWire's initiative to exceed American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. In particular, the goal is to achieve an industry leading power utilization effectiveness (PUE) rating below 1.35.
